Blue Moon is the solo project from Finnigan Kidd, songwriter and drummer in underground experimental pop act Hatcham Social. Blue Moon is a record about loss of innocence and loss of morality. It is a record of obsession. It features four creeping songs that sound like sorry admissions and smell like cigarettes. It is an exciting and affecting release from the multi-talented musician.

The EP was recorded in Amy Studt’s ‘Sleepwalker Studios’ in East London. The vocal performance is central and sneering, and so it is apt that Finnigan cites his musical reference points as ‘Nancy Sinatra, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry’.

‘The Dark Pulls Me Under’ somehow manages to be both gorgeous and disturbing, with Finnigan repeating “psycho” in a sickly and mechanical manner. ‘Down By The Lake’ is a slick and classy pop song with a hooky chorus that is as affecting as all the other somberness on this luscious EP. All of the tracks are calm and cool and almost sound like you’re talking to him, having a conversation and in the same room. You feel involved in Finnigan Kidd’s dark world and its intriguing and subtly terrifying atmosphere,inspired by the visions of Bret Easton Ellis, Martin Amis and David Lynch.”

Finnigan Kidd is able to create a very singular vision by playing recording and producing the whole record himself. David Claxton (of Hatcham Social) guests on two songs with extra guitar.
